"Overall my experience of using TrackaPhone has been excellent. They respond quickly to enquiries and requests for either information or modification of the platform"
Removing nuisance and unwanted water in the underground systems of metropolitan areas like London, Athens, and Tokyo is not only tough, but can also be dangerous. The safety of the staff working in these environments is of paramount importance, and no one takes this more seriously than ITT Water & Wastewater.
However, ITT WWW’s biggest challenge is competition in the market place. “As a responsible employer we take health and safety very seriously, and there is a cost for that,” said Paul Wood, Health & Safety Manager at ITT Water & Wastewater. “To be competitive we have to lone work without compromising safety.”
ITT WWW employs 100 engineers in the UK alone and half of them lone work on a regular basis. While workers install and maintain pumps, it is critical for ITT WWW to have safety control measures; first and foremost ones that cannot fail the safety of their employees, but also for the safety of the business.
ITT WWW ordered 50 Sonim XP3 Sentinels shortly after the phone was launched in June 2010. The handset met the company’s need for a waterproof and crush/drop resistant device, and also provided a loud ringtone and high speaker volume, which allows usage even when pumps are operating. Submersibility in up to 1 meter of water, drop resistance to 2 meters onto concrete, and resistance to 1000 kg of pressure are all key components of Sonim’s Rugged Performance Standards.
However, most importantly, the Sonim XP3 Sentinel in combination with a fully hosted TrackaPhone monitoring service and Professional Witnesses Ltd.’s 24/7 emergency response centre running on Vodafone’s Track-and-Assist finally gives ITT the functionality and confidence they needed for their lone worker system.
The Sonim XP3 Sentinel additionally contains a 3-axis accelerometer for increased worker security. Used as a man-down sensor, the alarm is raised automatically if an engineer falls into manhole, which is where the wastewater pumps are often located. During testing of the rst dozen units deployed in the eld, TrackaPhone worked closely with ITT to carefully tune the accelerometer g-force and duration thresholds to detect the precise kind of freefall accidents that their lone workers were at risk of.
TrackaPhone designed a custom phone conguration for ITT WWW including other parameters like the GPS tracking interval and the specific functionality for the amber and green buttons to fulll all their security and health needs.
As a result of the successful deployment of the end-to-end safety solution incorporating the Sonim XP3 Sentinel, Wood has recommended the solution for deployment by his peers responsible for Health and Safety in over 300 locations in countries around the world.

During that time I have liaised closely with the company at all levels to ensure that the product remains up to date and capable of interfacing with new products as they come into service. Problems and faults are dealt with promptly by their help desk, and the majority of issues are cleared up on the phone. Because of the nature of my work a high level of confidentiality is expected from our outside contractors. TrackaPhone always meet the high standards I expect and we have had no issues of security or confidentiality breaches during our relationship. The company operate within the guidelines laid out in the OFCOM Code of Practice for the suppliers of tracking services. Their team of directors (Phil Derry and Martin Worth) are both very approachable and will always make themselves available to discuss technical issues and possible modifications that would benefit us in the way we use their products. They have also proved to be a valuable conduit into other commercial companies with whom they deal, often passing on information relating to new products coming to market which they feel would be useful to me, and providing introductions to these companies when necessary. Financially they have held their prices steady throughout the period of our involvement, and I believe their product provides good value for money.
Professional Witnesses work with TrackaPhone, an independent software vendor and BlackBerry® solutions partner, to develop the required tracking system. TrackaPhone recommended using BlackBerry® smartphones. Barton explains, “The devices have first-class GPS chips. So we immediately jumped at the chance of rolling out the BlackBerry solution. The BlackBerry GPS gives us an accurate, real time picture of where our staff are located. This is absolutely vital as location is a prerequisite for lone worker protection and providing them with help when they need it.” The smartphones regularly push their location to the system via the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. This allows Professional Witnesses to monitor the location of staff in real-time on the TrackaPhone People Locator platform.

The annual event, is a challenge for a team of sailors and runners visiting five castles (Alnwick, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh, and Lindisfarne) and the Islands of North East Northumberland (Coquet, Farne and Holy Islands) To be completed in 24 hours. Even though the event is held on a pleasure basis the organisers wanted to make the event more interactive for those sitting at home in all far corners of the world.
Using our tried and tested recreational event approach, all competitors had Blackberry’s on their person and yacht at all times. Through the automated location ping settings, both speed and location on foot and on the water was recorded and mapped onto our live stream based in the CYC club house, and relayed back on to the event web site.

Having worked within the security sector for over 14 years, including operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel and most of the Middle East countries, I just wish this type of system was available in the past. The itrack platform is an excellent security solution providing real time tracking, for individuals and vehicles, which is essential for those working in hostile environments. I can highly recommend this leap forward in advanced monitoring capabilities - a must have security product for both the commercial and private sectors.
itrack supplied the tracking solution for our use at the 2010 World Cup. It was simple to install and use, yet provided the reassurance and security we needed whilst working in a difficult environment. It meant any of our security team could find out instantly from any laptop exactly where our vehicles were and in the event of an emergency would have been invaluable. It's portability and cost effectiveness was exactly what was required, whilst it's low maintenance was greatly appreciated. Above all, the itrack platform gave us peace of mind that we could be traced whilst working in potentially difficult locations
Having a need to track a major asset in South Africa from the UK, itrack were instrumental in supplying us with exactly what we needed. The devices and associated software have been excellent in not only tracking , but allowing us to use one of the easiest and most user friendly software packages on the market. News International are extremely happy with not only the devices supplied, but the pre and post sales support that itrack have in place. Very impressed.
We are a primarily a grounds maintenance company, based in Kent, with a fleet of 40 various vehicles and specialised equipment.
We chose to have the vehicles tracked after one of our vehicles was stolen and not recovered.
TrackaPhone were recommended to us by one of our sister companies, as they had used them for a while and were more than happy with their service and value for money. We also anticipated some resistance from the employees regarding the use of tracking technology which we need to address.

for over 3 years and it has grown month on month as our fleet has grown, we have over 100 vehicles on the service now.
We knew of the TrackaPhone Service from local press. We chose TrackaPhone for their technical knowledge and their flexible approach to
our organisation and our requirements. We have had a couple of instances of vehicles being misplaced by the team managers, and as a
result we had missed contract deadlines. Our organisation closes roads and rail for essential maintenance and as such has a limited time
available to get machines to site to carry out the work. Closure notices have to be meticulously planned and authorised. Also given the
corporate manslaughter act which came into force and the changes to our duty of care which we take very seriously, we were looking for a way to
improve our duty of care and accountability for employee safety.

Plant hire requires a large element of trust as the machinery is often taken for long periods of time by customers and there is a risk that it can be
subcontracted or moved to other location for other jobs, stolen etc. We had no effective way of auditing for this and a number of units had ‘gone
missing’. Plant is often targeted for theft due to its high value on the resale market abroad. Our insurance costs are always high but we didn’t
want them to get any higher.

depending on season and workload. We have been established for over 25 years and have gradually grown into the multi million pound company
we are today.
Our reason for looking for an employee protection solution came into being when we were made aware of the changes in the law with regards
to the ‘The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Act 2007 which came into force in April 2008 ‘. This made us look more closely at our internal
policy for our employee safety which was further highlighted after an incident when one of our employees attended an appointment on their
own, and we realised that both for the safety of our staff and compliance to legislation we had to put a robust policy and procedure in place..
We already had in place a call before attending appointment policy where the employee always had to ensure, that their office diary was up
to date. However this was not always the case as this was open to the employee themselves not always updating as regularly as they should.
We needed to put in place a system which had minimum impact on the employee; was less open to human error, and would complement our
normal daily activities.
In order to demonstrate an ROI to the board so that a solution could be implemented, we also wanted to see how else the available technology
could be exploited to achieve this.

small family firm to today operating over 50 routes daily. We offer the safe transportation of local children to and from the school to their
homes, also catering for any children with special needs.
For some time we had been aware that our business might benefit from the adoption of a vehicle tracking system and we had explored the
market place. However we had also heard worrying reports of the industry in general and found the range of solutions described and the
variations in pricing difficult to understand. Through participation in the ‘Beaujolais Run’ a charity event that involves driving through France to collect the new wine, we became aware of TrackaPhone and their technology as they were both sponsors and participants of the event. We could see that their technology would combat some specific issues in our business that we had identified:
• New health and safety regulations for duty of care
• Frequent accusations of non attendance or late attendance by parents and teachers
• The discovery that buses were being used by employees for private enterprises, such as house moves and private jaunts.
• We had also had instances of theft of buses which had increased insurance costs.
