TAPEX 2011

TAPEX 2011

TrackaPhone’s 6th annual TAPEX, held on the 1st December 2011 at the Union Jack Club has been declared a rip-roaring success by speakers and delegates alike.  Another full house of intelligent people!  With a wide range of discussions, seminar sessions and other activities running throughout the day, delegates were treated to the multitude of TrackaPhone’s “Secured by Design” cutting edge solutions.  Once again the event was a high level conference featuring leading figures from CSR, Vodafone, Scottish Government, RIM, Nokia, Sonim & Motorola.

Opening the conference, TrackaPhone’s CEO Phil Derry,  noted that they continue to lead the LBS industry on all fronts.   After 9 years of patiently ensuring TrackaPhone delivers the best in location privacy protection, resilience, robustness and accuracy the company is now seeing a high level of opportunities where customers have been left disillusioned and out of pocket with their solution in these crucial areas.  This has come about by the choice of inadequate devices or by the quality of a competitor’s chosen platform.  Pure web based interfaces are slow and offer no security.  There are also many 2nd generations users who have been let down with poor alert response management and TrackaPhone are proud to be partnering with Inkerman, Kings Security, SitexOrbis and PWG who utilise TrackaPhones platform to deliver life saving services.

TrackaPhone continues to integrate more and more devices onto its platform enabling customers to manage and protect people, assets and vehicles all on one platform with huge cost savings.  So far we have integrated over 40 different devices with more to come which include our iBeacon CANbus vehicle tracking solution.  SonimTechs excellent Sentinel rugged phone is proving a real winner in those environments that deserve such a “tough” device.  SATaRE and Ocellus devices continue to win through in the asset tracking world and Tripleton are as reliable as ever.

We demonstrated Version 20 of our Blackberry client using an American network SIM, roaming in India, flying to UK, located inside UJC club using cellular, wi-fi, aGPS and GPS to give best availability for quality location. Now that’s resilience.  And there is more to come with windows, iPhone and Android.

TAPEX11 also provided a high level platform for discussion of TrackaPhone’s recent technology developments namely enhanced locations in partnership with CSR, indoor location, V20 of the BlackBerry Alert Client, and the future development of alert clients for Android, Iphone and Windows 7. The forum also discussed the benefits of a myriad of specialized equipment recently introduced onto the TrackaPhone platform such as the new Motorola ES400 one of the best EDA’s commercially available, the ground breaking Iridium Extreme, enabling pole-to-pole global coverage and a wi-fi hotspot anywhere on the globe, and IBeacon vehicle telemetry capabilities.

Among those who took to the stage was Alan Crawford, Senior Health & Safety Advisor, Scottish Government. Alan gave an in-depth case study of the successful roll out of their TrackaPhone robust lone worker protection solution, covering Dumfries in the South to Lerwick in the North, geographically a difficult terrain to cover.  The Scottish Government and their trade unions are now working towards making the service mandatory for employees, who carry out an e-risk assessment, using the Risk Calculator tool designed by TrackaPhone in conjunction with the Scottish Government. This advises the employee on what levels of protection they should consider to carry out their normal duties. The decision to make the service mandatory is being driven by feedback from the early adopters regarding the increased safety and peace of mind they have experienced.

One of TAPEX11 keynote speeches was by Ashu Pande, MD India and Global VP&GM ISBU at CSR Technology. Ashu discussed the key development of utilising enhanced cell-ID and incorporating the expertise of our two leading technology companies (TrackaPhone & CSR) to facilitate the ground breaking development of indoor location. TrackaPhone also demonstrated Vodafone Locate technology that will enable the delivery of enhanced cell-ID on Vodafone Global networks.

As the event drew to a close, it was clear to all who participated that the evolution of the LBS industry will emanate from the developments such as those arising from TrackaPhone’s industry leading development team. Delegates left TAPEX11, enlightened and empowered with the tools and knowledge on how LBS solutions can be implemented into their own organisations whether it is looking after people, assets or vehicles.

Please feel free to contact us for a free evaluation of your lone worker, vehicle tracking or asset protection requirements.  Watch this space as we will be holding briefings throughout the UK -  something akin to a mini TAPEX. For more information about TAPEX11, or the presentations delivered on the day please contact us
